Lyric Opera of Chicago is recognized internationally as one of the great opera companies of our time. Its artistic standards are universally admired. Over the course of the company's 54-year history, Lyric Opera of Chicago has consistently offered its patrons a world-class roster of singers, conductors, directors, designers, choreographers, and dancers in a wide-ranging repertoire.
The company’s eight-opera season starts in late September and concludes in late March, offering 80 performances of opera classics and 20th-century repertoire. Several world premieres have also been presented at Lyric over the years. Each season Lyric audiences enjoy the world’s greatest singers in productions that are spectacular musically, dramatically, and visually.
William Mason is general director; Sir Andrew Davis is music director and principal conductor. Lyric Opera of Chicago performs in the Ardis Krainik Theatre of the Civic Opera House, built in 1929 by the architectural firm of Graham, Anderson, Probst & White.
