In addition to donating the Clarence Buckingham Memorial Fountain, philanthropist and art patron Kate Sturges Buckingham (1858 – 1937) commissioned a monument to the Alexander Hamilton (1757 – 1804) whom she considered “one of the least appreciated great Americans.”

Donated by a Chicago brewer of German descent, Francis Dewes (1845 - 1941), this artwork was produced by German sculptor Felix Gorling. It honors the park's namesake, Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859), a naturalist and explorer from the Kingdom of Prussia, an area that is now northern Germany.

Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool is a historic nature garden and lily pool located in Lincoln Park, at the southeast corner of Fullerton and Cannon Drives. Originally built in 1889 for raising tropical water lilies, the lily pool was redesigned in the prairie style of landscape architecture during the 1930’s by Alfred Caldwell.
